Fahrenheit 451?

Maisie finds great sport in removing all the books from the bookshelves, piling them up and then picking ONE out of the pile to "read".  It is quite amusing the titles she gravitates to the most often...Monsters of the Northwoods (Bigfoot stories), Seamus Heaney's Electric Light, Kinds of Love by May Sarton, and The Dance of Intimacy by Goldman.

Just look at her, though...all sugar and spice and everything nice.  Heaven help us if she reads Ray Bradbury... keep the lighter fluid and matches away from her and the book pile.

NO, WE DIDN'T MOVE TO APPALACHIA

Miss Maisie has discovered DIRT.  She hears the siren call of soil and seems to consider it a good day when it is ended with earth under her nails.

Frost Mountain

It is hard to believe that less than a month ago, I was hiking in snow. Today, I drove into the back parking lot at University of Maine in Augusta and there was the remains of a snow bank on the edge of the lot...what a surprise!  Especially since it was in the 60's today and sunny.  This weekend is predicted to be in the high 70's, although we had a frost earlier in the week.  My father used to say, "Don't like the weather?  Wait a minute.".  Never more true than this April.

More photos of our trip can be seen here in the nature walks.  Also, if you were interested in staying at Frost Mountain Yurts you should check out their site.  I highly recommend it.

Eliminating the Middleman

This is what I found when I took the cover off the cat box to clean it the other morning.

Birthday Largesse

Today is my 46 birthday.  I find that I miss my parents the most on my birthday...this is the second one without them.  Gifts I have received and am thankful for include: money, a garden stepping stone, a frying pan, a bird feeder and plant seeds, a gift certificate to Johnny's, chocolate,  a gift certificate for a car detailing, a watch fixed,  a delicious turkey dinner with cake and ice cream, many cards, notes, and calls.  I went on a yurt trip last weekend to kick off the week.  And of course, the best gift of all is every day that I get to spend with this little dubber.
